Because of his injury, Rafael Nadal can't compete on the ATP Tour and therefore, he will drop to his lowest rankings since 2017.

Nadal has been struggling with injuries in recent months, which have impacted his ability to compete at the highest level. The 22-time Grand Slam champion has lost seven out of his last nine matches, and he was forced to withdraw from the Dubai Championships and Qatar Open due to an injury that he picked up in Australia.

Because of that, he won't be able to defend the points that he collected in Acapulco last year, and therefore his total will drop to 3315. That means, that in two weeks, Nadal will drop to at least 7th place, but he can also go lower if Felix Auger-Aliassime reaches the final in Rotterdam.

Over the past few seasons, Nadal dropped to the 6th place on multiple occasions, but he was never seventh. The last time the Spaniard wasn't ranked among the Top 6 in the ATP Rankings was on April 16th, 2017, and this year, he will match that.

While dropping to 7th place in the rankings is undoubtedly disappointing for Nadal, it is not a reflection of his overall career accomplishments. He has been ranked as the world number one player on multiple occasions and has won countless titles, including 14 Roland Garros titles, which is a record in the Open Era.

Nadal's ranking drop is also an opportunity for other players to shine. The top of the men's tennis rankings has been dominated by the "Big Three" of Nadal, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic for over a decade. However, the past year has seen the rise of a new generation of players, including Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, and Stefanos Tsitsipas, who are all in the Top 10.

This shift in the rankings is a reminder that tennis is a dynamic sport, and new players will inevitably emerge and challenge the established stars. It also highlights the physical demands of professional tennis and the importance of taking care of one's body to avoid injuries and maintain longevity in the sport.

Soon, the Spaniard will be defending also 600 points from his final participation at the Indian Wells Masters, and he can also drop from the Top 10 for the first time since 2005.

Despite his current ranking, Rafael Nadal remains one of the greatest tennis players of all time. His dedication, sportsmanship, and determination have earned him a legion of fans around the world, and his legacy in the sport is secure. As he works to recover from his injuries and return to the top of the rankings, fans of the sport will undoubtedly be rooting for him every step of the way.
