It seems that Nick Kyrgios will be playing at the 2022 Japan Open in Tokyo after his participation not being certain for some time.
The 27-years-old Australian lost in the quarterfinals of the 2022 US Open and he didn't hide his disappointment of getting close to his first singles Grand Slam final but eventually not close enough. During the post-match press conference, Nick Kyrgios spoke about how he sees Grand Slam tournaments compared to any other tournaments and so it was not sure if he'll play until the next year's Australian Open.
"Yeah. I mean, yeah, they do. I honestly feel like sh*t. I feel like I've let so many people down. I just don't know. I feel like I'm playing Tokyo and stuff. But, like, I feel like these four tournaments are the only ones that ever are going to matter. It's just like you got to start it all again. I have to wait till Australian Open," Nick Kyrgios said.
"Honestly I don't even really care about any other tournament. Like, I feel like at the Grand Slams, now having success at a Grand Slam, it's just like no other tournament really matters. It's like you get better, you get worse, then at a Grand Slam none of it matters. You either win or lose. People don't really care if you got better on the day or you lost 4 in the fifth or played one of the best matches of the tournament. You lost so..." Kyrgios said.
Moreover, the 2022 Australian Open doubles champion many times expressed how he misses his family and that he can't wait to get back home and so that was also one of the reasons why many doubted that he will fly to Tokyo.
However, now, Kyrgios confirmed that he will be flying to the capital of Japan on his Instagram when he posted a story which stated that he's soon coming to Tokyo and so fans in Asia will see the 2022 Wimbledon finalist in action this year.
