Double partners Jannik Sinner and Hubert Hurkacz will compete in the final of the 2024 Halle Open.
The Polish player won the Halle Open two years ago by besting Daniil Medvedev in the final. His semi-final performance this year against Alexander Zverev was quite impressive, so he'll be confident heading into this ATP 500 final.
There are some parallels with that final against Medvedev because the Russian was the number one player when they played, the same way Sinner is number one right now.
If the Polish player stuns the Italian in the final, it would be the second time he has bested a reigning world number one in the Halle Open final. Sinner won't make it easy, as he's been quite resilient this week.
He hasn't been perfect, dropping a few sets this week, but he's one of the best players in the world, if not the best, as his ranking suggests.
The two have played four times so far, and their current H2H score is 2-2. No matches between them were played this year, but Sinner won the most recent one last year in Monte Carlo.
They know each other really well, so there are very few surprises between them. Grass is a surface they've never played on against each other, but they're both quite solid on it.
Hurkacz has the better serve, which makes the court in Halle very good for him, but Sinner is one of the best players in the world when it comes to rallies, so beating him is never easy.
Jannik Sinner | Hubert Hurkacz | |
2 | H2H | 2 |
1 | Rank | 9 |
22 | Age | 27 |
37-3 | 2024 W/L | 33-12 |
227-77 | Career W/L | 203-135 |
This will be an extremely close match that can realistically go either way. Yes, Sinner is the better player, but Hurkacz has shown himself to be quite tough to beat on grass, especially in Halle. Still, the Italian should be able to prevail.
Prediction: Jannik Sinner to win in three sets.
