"I hope it makes people happy" - Federer launches RF shirt with iconic logo

Roger Federer had to fight hard to reclaim the iconic RF logo that he had created a long time ago while he still worked with Nike.

The Swiss player meanwhile switched to UNIQLO as his clothing sponsor, but he was unable to bring the logo with him back initially. Over time, he was able to finally get it back, and now he's partnering with UNIQLO to launch a signature shirt with the iconic logo on it.

In an Instagram video that announced his new t-shirt with the iconic logo, Federer explained how the iconic RF logo came to be and what it means to him.

"At the beginning that came through a conversation, I had with Mirka. We thought we needed a logo. At the time initials were not that popular yet, it was more symbols."

"The one we created way back when was very similar to this one. It also featured the floating F with the floating R and I thought it was very light, very elegant."

The shirt means a lot to Federer because it was created for tennis fans with the logo that he sees as a representation of the community that his fans have built.

It's something he wears with pride and he hopes others will too. With the return of this signature mark tied to his name, there is no doubt that fans will rush to the stores to buy one for themselves.

"In the beginning, it was a personal statement and then it became more of a logo for the fans. As we in tennis don't have a name or number on the back it was a way for me to connect to fans and really feel that sense of community. It means so much to me. I wear it with a lot of pride."
