Holger Rune has lofty goals this year and his biggest one is to win a Grand Slam event with many considering Roland Garros as the most likely one.
Rune proved last year that he's much more than just a talented player making a deep run at several events and beating Djokovic in the Paris Masters final. The Dane has been one of the more consistent players this year though he lacked the level needed to go far in a big event.
The Australian Open has been his best run overall and that's because his main goal this year is to win a grand slam. He thinks he's ready for it and Roland Garros could be a good chance for him if he's able to produce at a big level like he did last year.
My goal is a Slam for this year. You know, I won a Masters 1000 now in Paris, and I think the next step is a Slam, and I know it takes a lot, and maybe it happens or maybe it doesn't, but I'm going to go for it 100 percent.
One thing that could get him there is his passion, something many have pointed out his a huge asset for him. He was playing well against Djokovic but the hunger to win, the passion he had is basically what willed him past the legendary player in Paris. That's something he will need if he hopes to win a Grand Slam.
We have the French Open and then Wimbledon, you know, right after that, I would say, I feel good physically, I feel good mentally, and I feel so good in my tennis, so I'm trying to push as hard as I can for it, and I hope it's going to be this year.
A good thing for him is that he remains humble and willing to work not letting any comparisosn with top players get to his head.
