Holger Rune Confirms His First Tournament Of 2024 Season

| by Sebastian Dahlman

Holger Rune knows where he'll play his first tennis tournament of 2024, and it's going to be the Brisbane International, where he'll make his debut.

Down Under has been an interesting experience for Holger Rune in the past. The first time he made his way there as an ATP pro was last year and it wasn't a particularly good start for him.

He played in Adelaide, where he didn't win a single main draw match, though he did win two qualifying matches. The next event Down Under was the tournament in Adelaide number two, where he again lost in the first round.

He then played at the Australian Open, where he lost in the opening round again, which means he didn't win a single main draw match last year in Australia.

This year was much better for him down under, even though he once again played in Adelaide and lost in the opening round. He did have a really good run at the Australian Open, making his way to the 4th round.

The pattern here is going to Adelaide and losing in the first round, so next year, Rune made a slight change. He will begin his year in Brisbane this time around, hoping for a better start compared to previous years.

There is still a chance that he plays in Adelaide the week after that as well, but nothing is confirmed as of now. We know that he'll be in Brisbane from January 31st till the 7th when the event concludes.

It will be his first event in 2024 and a pretty early start for Rune, who has high hopes for next year. He's set for a really strong breakout year if he keeps developing his game at the rate he did in previous years.

It also might signal a more mature approach to his calendar, which is needed. Many think that he tends to play far too many events generally.
