Carlos Alcaraz lost his number one ranking to Novak Djokovic recently but his coach revealed that it's not an obsession for the youngster.
Alcaraz became number one after a brilliant run at the US Open where he defeated Casper Ruud in the final. He remained number one at the end of the year but he didn't keep it past the Australian Open. Not playing and Djokovic winning did the trick.
The goal of being No 1 is always in the mind but, naturally, it is not an obsession, because of his youth and because he has already been (there).
As Juan Carlos explained, the goal is to be number one but Alcaraz has other priorities right now. After experiencing some injury setbacks, the youngster is focused on staying healthy and being able to compete weekly.
Right now, what Carlos wants is to be healthy and be able to compete, he wants to show his best level and fight to win tournaments.
He'll make his return to tennis at the Argentina Open in Buenos Aires. To goal is to get back into a good rhytm before the Sunshine double.
