"Great to win again" - Alcaraz after first win in four months

Carlos Alcaraz was winless for four months on the ATP Tour but that's because he didn't play for four months due to an injury.

He missed the ATP Finals during the season's final stretch because of an abdominal injury, and he also missed the Australian Open because of a leg issue. He eventually returned to the court in Buenos Aires and earned his maiden victory.

It’s a great feeling to win again. It’s been a long time for me with no competition, with no matches, just recovering. Finally I got my first win of 2023.

Alcaraz was warmly welcomed in the Argentine capital as a big crowd greeted him with the stands packed to watch him play. It's his first time playing an ATP event here and so far it's been a very positive experience.

I’m really happy [in Buenos Aires]. I didn’t expect such a great crowd, a great atmosphere behind me. So I just can say thank you to all the fans here in Buenos Aires for the warm welcome that I received in this first match and I hope to keep going with this energy.
