Rafael Nadal doesn't know when he'll be ready to play tennis but even if he's not 100 % ready he could be part of the Spanis Davis Cup Team.
Nadal played for Spain in the Davis Cup leading them to the trophy in the past. Playing in the red kit was always very meaningful for Nadal who wore it proudly. He played even better which is why the nation is one of the more successful ones in the competition in the past two decades.
When he announced his Roland Garros withdrawal, Nadal mentioned the Davis Cup in December as a possible testing ground for a return. The event would be coming two months before the Australian Open so it sounds like a decent plan. He's always maintained that he wants to play one final time for Spain and doing so in the Finals on Spanish soil would be fitting.
After all, 2024 is his final career year so there would be only one chance for that if Spain qualifies for the event. With Nadal and Alcaraz in the squad, the country would certainly be among the favourites, and Spanish Davis Cup Captain Ferrer would love to have him as he revealed to Eurosport. He might even call him up even if he won't play simply to help with his experience.
Possibly yes, for all that he can transmit. Nadal even without being 100% is a very special player, who transmits a lot and who is so good on court. You can trust him for his ability to suffer and in his tennis.
The finals will happen in the final week of November and that about lines up with the recovery timeline from the surgery he underwent recently. Fans are hopeful, especially after the huge hole he left by missing Roland Garros.
