Carlos Alcaraz vs Jannik Sinner: 2023 China Open Beijing - Preview & Prediction

| by Evita Mueller

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have delivered some amazing matches in the past and fans are hopeful of another one.

Alcaraz has been pretty solid lately, with a run to the final of the Cincinnati Masters and a good run at the US Open. He lost to Daniil Medvedev at the US Open, which was disappointing, but he shook that off with a really solid run at the 2023 China Open.

The win over Casper Ruud was actually his best win this week, and he's looking as dangerous as he ever looked on a tennis court. Sinner on the other hand, wasn't that impressive lately, even though he made a good effort here. His play has been really good this week, but his matches have been the typical Sinner experience.

It's very streaky, and it's not very stable, but it works. Whether it will work against Alcaraz remains to be seen, but he's done it in the past, even this year.

Head-to-head:

We've seen seven matches so far from them on the ATP Tour, and they were all really great. Some of them were huge ones, like the one at last year's US Open, as well as a final in Umag. The most recent one was in Miami earlier this year, which Sinner actually won.

Still, Alcaraz leads the H2H 4-3 and has beaten Sinner this year as well. It happened in Indian Wells, an event he won. Will he do it again, find out below.

Prediction:

I do think that Alcaraz will win this match mostly because he showed better control of his matches than Sinner. He didn't look nearly as streaky, his playstyle fits like a glow because the higher bounce gives him plenty of time to unleash but that's the same for Sinner.

I generally think he's playing at a better level with more control and that's why I think he'll win.

Prediction: Carlos Alcaraz to win in two sets.
