Jannik Sinner confirmed once more ahead of Wimbledon that fame is not something that he's really interested in.
The Italian is famous for being a very good tennis player—one of the best in the world. It goes with the territory, as he's a public figure in the spotlight weekly. Fame and publicity aren't things he's particularly interested in and you only have to look at his life for that.
He's very private, doesn't really put himself out there too much, and most of his public appearances are tied to tennis. It's just not something that he cares about in the slightest, which he confirmed to L'Equipe in a recent interview.
"Being famous doesn't interest me. Whether I have tens or millions of followers, I will always have my family and the people who love me close to me, my friends who have known me since I was a child. I will always be faithful to them. You can do without everything else."
While being famous doesn't particularly interest Sinner, some things related to being well-known do. Being a source of inspiration to kids around the world to pick up tennis is one of the things he mentioned. Creating a lasting legacy in that way is something far more appealing than just being known for being known.
"Being known just for being known doesn't interest me. I like to be a source of inspiration, to push more and more children to pick up a racket and play. The more children play, the better it will be for the future of Italian tennis."
He's already arguably the greatest Italian tennis player ever, at least when it comes to talent, so now it's about creating that legacy. If he keeps it up, he'll certainly leave a huge mark on Italian tennis and inspire many kids to follow in his footsteps.
