"Being better at tennis makes your opinion louder" - Dan Evans frustrated with ATP's ways

Dan Evans spoke about the ATP's decision to strip points from Wimbledon calling it a tough one while explaining that players weren't really consulted about it.

The Association of Tennis Professionals is there to protect the players however many players are coming out and questioning how they do things. It's becoming clear that the decision to strip points from Wimbledon was not consulted with the majority of players but rather the top ones which left many feeling marginalized. Speaking about that, Dan Evans said:

“I also don't like it when the players are saying it's a disgrace but don't know the ins and outs of the issue. I would like to have more player input, but that wasn't to be. Like most things, the bigger, better players were asked, and there's quite a lot of other players on the tour as well as Rafa, Novak. So, which is disappointing, in my opinion, from the ATP. But being better at tennis makes your opinion louder.”

Evans has a fair point because while the decision signals protection for players like Medvedev or Rublev, players like Fucsovics were left powerless and unable to defend ranking points they earned with the points being taken away from them. On the decision itself, Evans said:

“It's not the right decision but it's a difficult one. Obviously everyone's got an opinion. I want to be playing for points, obviously, but there's obviously bigger things to this decision than me wanting points."

Reports have come out that top Wimbledon officials will be in Paris this week to talk to the Tours in order to try and work out some compromise.
