The ATP stars have assembled at Roland Garros, where a maximum of 2000 points will be up for grabs, but who can overtake Jannik Sinner in the ATP race?
That's the big question because the Italian has not ceded that position since winning the Australian Open at the end of January. In fact, Sinner has established a huge lead at the top, amassing 4,500 points in 2024. Based on results in the current season, he's been the ATP's best player.
Alexander Zverev (2nd) is the most in-form player heading to Roland Garros, where he will play 14-time champion Rafael Nadal in the standout first-round match at the tournament. The German added 1,000 points to his tally after winning the Italian Open over a week ago.
Daniil Medvedev remains third. Almost half of the 2950 points he has clocked came from reaching the Australian Open final. Remarkably, the Russian is the only player in the Top 10 of the race who has not won at least one title this season.
Casper Ruud won in Geneva for the third time in his career and is edging closer to overtaking Medvedev. Andrey Rublev, meanwhile, is fifth. Stefanos Tsitsipas stays above Carlos Alcaraz, although the Spaniard has only played one warm-up tournament before the French Open.
Alex de Minaur, Grigor Dimitrov, and Hubert Hurkacz complete the Top 10 in that order. Taylor Fritz dropped to the 11th spot, while World No. 1 Novak Djokovic finds himself at the unusual spot of 12th.
The Serbian topped the chart last season for a record eighth time but has some work to do with over 3000 points to catch Sinner. After their landmark achievements at the Italian Open, Alejandro Tabilo and Nicolas Jarry are the two Chileans in the Top 20 of the race.
The ATP race will be used to determine the eight top-performing players of the current season who will automatically qualify for the 2024 ATP Finals in Turin. It will also crown the ATP's year-end no. 1.
