Alexander Zverev officially ends his 2022 season; withdraws from Paris Masters

It's confirmed that Alexander Zverev won't play any more tennis in 2022 as the German withdrew from the last event of the year - Paris Masters.

Alexander Zverev only recently disclosed that he had recently experienced a setback due to bone edema, which could prevent him from playing for up to a year. The German hasn't played since suffering a major ankle injury during his titanic match against Rafael Nadal in the semifinals of Roland Garros in June.

After being forced to withdraw from the Davis Cup, Zverev said: “I have a bone edema issue which causes me quite a lot of pain. I don’t know if it happened yesterday or not but yesterday in practice with Oscar [Otte] it got to the point where I couldn’t run or walk anymore."

When speaking about his brother's comeback, Mischa Zverev said: ""Sascha doesn't just want to play tournaments when he's healthy, but only when he's also fit in terms of play. Novak comes back, wins two tournaments - and that's it."

"Obviously, he wasn't injured and he's only had one break, but he comes on with a lot of confidence and plays his thing down. I'm sure he'll get even better. It's very impressive, especially at 35."
