The 2024 Citi Open will run from July 29th to August 4th, and the draw for the ATP 500 tournament has been revealed.
Competing for players with the Olympic Games is never easy, and thats exactly what the organizers of the tournament in Washington had to do this year, as the Olympics in Paris run at the same time as the Citi Open.
Still, the field is very strong, including many American players, who will want to use the support of the home crowd as their fuel to do well during the week in the country's capital city.
The top seed in Washington, however, will be Andrey Rublev. The Russian lost in the semi-finals of the Croatia Open in Umag, and accepted a late wild card, likely wanting to make his calendar as full as possible after missing the Olympics.
As all 16 seeded players in Washington, he has a first-round BYE. However, already in the second round, he will face challenging opposition, taking on the winner of the match between Luca Van Assche and Arthur Cazaux.
The fifth seed in Washington is Frances Tiafoe, who is one of many American players who skipped the Olympics. In the second round of the Citi Open, he will take on the winner of the match between Daniel Elahi Galan and one of the qualifiers.
His compatriot, Sebastian Korda, is the fourth seed, and he will have even more challenging second-round match, playing against either Aslan Karatsev or Cristian Garin.
Karen Khachanov will be the third seed in Washington, and while he can play one of the qualifiers in the second round, his opponent in his first match can be also Adam Walton, who will play against one of those qualifiers in the first round.
The second seed will be the biggest home star, Ben Shelton, who will start against the winner of the match between Facundo Diaz Acosta and one of the qualifiers. The full draw for the 2024 Citi Open can be seen below.
