2024 China Open ATP Draw: Alcaraz & Sinner Locked In Another Title Fight

| by Erik Virostko

The draw for the 2024 China Open in Beijing has been released, as some of the best players in the world will return to the action at the ATP 500 tournament.

Starting on September 26th and running until October 2nd, the China Open in Beijing is probably the most popular ATP 500 tournament in the calendar. This is highlighted by the incredibly strong field, which featured the three highest-ranked players on the ATP Tour.

That was until Alexander Zverev withdrew from the tournament. Still, the World No. 1 and No. 3 players will compete in Beijing, being seeded first and second at the ATP 500 tournament.

For the first-seeded Jannik Sinner it will be the first tournament since the Italian player won the US Open. He also returns to Beijing as the defending champion, having won the title last year.

This year, the 23-year-old player will start against Nicolas Jarry from Chile, who will certainly be a challenging opponent, and already in the second round, he could face a three-time major winner, as he will play against the winner of the match between Stan Wawrinka and Jan Lennard Struff, should he get past the first round.

His main rival for the title, Carlos Alcaraz, is on the opposite side of the draw. The Spanish player has competed since his disappointing exit from the US Open, leading Team Europe to victory at the 2024 Laver Cup in Berlin.

He won't have fellow players backing him in Beijing, as this time, he will be on his own, as he's used to. In the first round, the four-time major winner will play against talented Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.

Should he succeed in the first round, the second round won't bring any easier opponent, as Alcaraz would have to play against either Miomir Kecmanovic or Tallon Griekspoor.

Last year's finalist, Daniil Medvedev, also traveled from Berlin, where he competed at the Laver Cup, to the Chinese capital to compete at this ATP 500 tournament.

In the first round, he was given a brutal draw, as Gael Monfils is a player who can beat anyone, given his vast experience. The winner of this match will then play against the winner of the match between Adrian Mannarino and Lorenzo Sonego in the second round.

It's been some time since Andrey Rublev was in action, and in Beijing, he will be the fourth seed. In the first round, the Russian player will start against Pablo Carreno Busta.

As always, the China Open draw features many great matches and possible matchups in the future rounds. The full draw for the 2024 China Open in Beijing can be viewed below.
