The 2024 Brisbane International is set to return to the men's calendar for the first time since 2019, and it promises a record prize money in the event's history.
The tournament has already worked its socks off to assemble quite possibly the finest talent pool in a singles field since it was incepted in 2009, with no fewer than 10 Grand Slam champions across the men's and women's circuits.
On the ATP side, the entry list is garnished by the presence of 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal, who is set to make his first appearance on a match court in precisely 12 months. Nadal has plenty of challengers in his wake, with top seed Holger Rune among them.
The likes of Ben Shelton, Sebastian Korda, and Sebastian Baez will all look to challenge the experienced heads including two-time former champion Andy Murray and Bulgarian one-hander Grigor Dimitrov, who won the event in 2017.
The players in the men's field will fight for a prize money purse up to the region of $661,585, which is roughly a 25% increment from the last staging in 2019, which will be reflected at all rounds of the main draw competition.
In terms of prize money breakdown, the champion stands to gain $95,340, which is a substantial increase of nearly $5,000 from when Kei Nishikori last won the tournament five years ago. The winner will also collect 250 ranking points.
The runner-up will earn $55,665 and pick 165 points. Points distribution will also change between the second-round stage and the final stage due to the ATP's recent changes to the ranking system. So, the beaten finalist is not leaving Brisbane with too much disappointment.
Second-rounders, Quarterfinalists, and Semifinalists are all set to pocket prize money amounts in five figures. Each of those players will also receive 25, 50, and 100 points, respectively, in that order.
First-rounders don't get any points but will be compensated with a $6,640 paycheck. The complete prize money breakdown and points distribution for the 2024 Brisbane International is indicated below.
