The ATP season will get underway with the first ATP 250 event of the year - the Adelaide International 1 - which will run from January 1-8.
Despite being only an ATP 250 event, it features a very interesting draw full of players ranked in the Top 20 of the ATP Rankings. Last year, Gael Monfils won the tournament, but he won't be present at the 2023 Adelaide International 1, the first of the two events held in this city.
Novak Djokovic, who won here in 2007, will be the first-seeded player and he will start his season against Constant Lestienne from France. In the second round, the Serbian can play against Jordan Thompson or Quentin Halys.
In 2020, the tournament was won by Andrey Rublev and the Russian is present in Adelaide again. He's the fourth-seeded and faces a really tough draw as he will start against Roberto Bautista Agut, who would be most probably a seeded player at any other ATP 250 tournament.
Rublev isn't the only Russian that will play at the event. Last year's finalist, Karen Khachanov is the eighth-seeded, and he will begin against Pedro Cachin and former world no. 1, Daniil Medvedev. no. 3 seed, will start against Lorenzo Sonego.
British tennis will also have a couple of players participating at this event. Kyle Edmund is making his comeback and he will have a difficult job in his first match as he will play against the sixth-seeded Jannik Sinner. Andy Murray will meet Sebastian Korda in the first round.
