The 2022 Moselle Open in Metz is one of the two tournaments held immediately after the last Grand Slam of the season from August 19th until 25th.
Players that usually don't get into the second week of a Grand Slam try to sign up for an event that is held right after the major to make a good use of timing their form. Therefore, those events usually feature a weaker entry list, but that's not a case for the 2022 Moselle Open in Metz.
Last year, Hubert Hurkacz defeated Pablo Carreno Busta in the final of the event after both players lost already in the first round of the US Open. This year, only one of them will be competing and it will be the last year's champion.
World number 1, Daniil Medvedev surprisingly also signed up for the 2022 Moselle Open in Metz as the Russian is the defending champion in the Flushing Meadows. The entry list includes players such as Lorenzo Musetti, Holger Rune, Nikoloz Basilashvili and also 2020 US Open champion, Dominic Thiem is signed up.
