Tennis superstars Nick Kyrgios and Naomi Osaka have announced that they have become co-owners of the Miami Pickleball Club, a facility dedicated to the rapidly growing sport of pickleball.
For those unfamiliar with pickleball, it is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. It is played on a smaller court with a lower net and is often described as a mix between tennis and ping pong.
Kyrgios and Osaka, both of whom are known for their competitive spirits and love of sports, see the acquisition as a way to give back to the pickleball community and help grow the sport. They have both achieved tremendous success in their respective sports, are no strangers to the world of business.
In addition to their successful careers on the court, they have also made a name for themselves off the court through various business ventures. Announcing the acquisition of the club, the Australian shared a picture on his Instagram with a caption which reads:
"Introducing the Miami Pickleball Club. Big welcome to our draft picks Alix Truong, Regina F Goldberg and Matt Manasse."
The Australian also named three other athletes, particularly basketball players LeBron James and Kevin Durant and NFL legend Tom Brady. Since they are also co-owners of another pickleball club, the 2022 Wimbledon champion hinted a future rivalry. "We are coming for you LeBron James, Kevin Duran, Tom Brady."
The four-time Grand Slam champion also shared the news on her social media profiles and added her own line, saying: "So cool to engage in another sport and excited it’s in the 305."
