Venus Williams might be 43, but the American is still kicking around and competing in tennis, even though it's not always.
The American impresses many with her dedication to tennis, as the 43-year-old is not giving up on playing tennis despite many physical problems. The sport is very demanding, and after thousands of hours on the court, Williams is not the healthiest anymore.
Small injuries happen often, and it prevents her from being competitive regularly, but she's not giving up, which is pretty inspiring. Part of what allows her to compete at all is a pretty strict workout regimen that features both cardio and strength training.
She talked a bit about that in her most recent interview with Women's Health. Knowing her body and her limitations is important, though, because, like the rest of us, she's only human.
"I'm either on the court getting as many reps in as possible for cardio, in the gym doing strength work, or recovering and trying to get my body to the best place possible. Everybody is different when it comes to exercise. The most important thing is to listen to your body, stay consistent, and set realistic goals."
Part of exercising is being comfortable, which is why Venus started her clothing line that aims to combine her love for fashion and exercise. It's been a pretty good success because so many want comfort like Venus when exercising.
"I know firsthand that when you look and feel your best, you have the confidence to play your best. It's so important that I feel comfortable and supported on the court so I can move around quicker and more effectively."
We'll see how much time the American has left on the tennis court. Per her former coach, she'll retire on her own terms, which means none of us know exactly when it will happen.
