Ajla Tomljanovic just recently returned to tennis but she's going to miss some more time after undergoing a medical procedure.
It's been a very tough time for Tomljanovic in recent years as the Australian has been dealing with a lot of injuries. She didn't play a lot in 2023, totaling only ten matches overall, and this year hasn't started out much better.
Most recently, Tomljanovic played in Hua Hin, where she surprisingly lost already in the first round to Dalma Galfi, winning only three games in the process.
After finally making her return to the courts recently, Tomljanovic is now going to spend even more time away from the tennis courts in the coming weeks. The announcement of her missing more time came on social media as she posted an update on Instagram.
She had to undergo a medical procedure which will keep her away from doing anything tennis-related for a few weeks. On her Instagram, the Australian posted an update, detailing that she had to have uterine fibroids removed.
"Hello everyone, unfortunately, I won’t be competing for a couple of weeks… was very much looking forward to the next hard court events. I had to get some uterine fibroids removed and will be watching from home while healing. Will be back soon. Also attaching a link for all my girlies and men (too) who want to(should) learn more."
It's unfortunate for Tomlajnovic because she's been effectively away from the sport for two years now. A few matches here and there don't really change that, and she can't finally get healthy enough to play tennis regularly
The hope is that things finally work out for her during this season, as the 30-year-old's career isn't going to last forever, and she also certainly wants to show her true potential to the tennis world.
