Iga Swiatek exacted revenge on Linda Noskova in Indian Wells after the Czech player beat her earlier this year at the Australian Open.
Swiatek and Noskova played a very interesting match at the Australian Open earlier this year, with the Czech player stunning the world no. 1. The Pole won the opening set of that match, but she couldn't really finish off the match because Noskova was able to turn it around and win it in three sets.
The Polish player was in similar trouble this time around because Noskova once again held the upper hand early in this match. She took an early break and was up thanks to her tremendous baseline hitting, but she couldn't sustain it this time around.
The courts at the WTA 1000 event in Indian Wells are rather slow, which gave the excellent-moving Swiatek all the time needed to grind down the rallies.
She would break back from a 2-4 and 15-40 deficit and then also take the lead, winning the opening set 6-4. That was a pretty strong comeback from Swiatek, who used a rather shaky serving performance from Noskova to her advantage.
The second set wasn't that much better for the Czech player, as she struggled even more. Swiatek took an early break and then added another break to make it 4-0.
By this moment in the match, the top seed was already playing amazing tennis and simply grinding down her opponent. She's a former champion of this event, after all, and while she lost to Elena Rybakina last year, people seem to forget that these courts really do fit the way she plays.
She showed it in this match, completely dominating her opponent. The second set was especially impressive, as she finished it off with a bagel for the final score of 6-4, 6-0. Swiatek essentially finished the match on a 10-game run, as she was down 2-4 in the first set.
