Swiatek Extends Flawless Record For A Tenth Consecutive Season

| by Jordan Reynolds

Iga Swiatek's remarkable consistency has been shown by a feat now achieved for 10 straight years.

Swiatek, who has shown trademark dominance at the United Cup, has become a global star in the last few years. This is due to the four-time Grand Slam champion's incredible accomplishments.

However, the Pole's huge success did not happen in a vacuum. It takes several years of hard work and dedication, combined with talent to be as successful as Swiatek has been.

Those who become top players on the ATP and WTA Tours are almost always devoted to the sport as juniors. The work ethic of those players begins from their time as very young players, and then builds and develops further.

Dedication during the off-season is another essential characteristic of a top player. It can be hard to stay motivated after a long season and when there are no matches, but the best players manage to do that.

Swiatek's record that she has extended perfectly demonstrates these points. It shows her strength as a junior player and the excellent shape she gets herself into for new seasons.

Swiatek has now won her opening match of the season for ten consecutive seasons. This run stretches from the 2015 J4 Szczecin through to her win at this season's United Cup against Beatriz Haddad Maia.

The world No. 1 has developed a reputation as one of the most meticulous and hardworking players on the WTA Tour. That attitude has clearly always been there since she was a junior, as this record demonstrates.

Although Swiatek has downplayed talk about winning the Australian Open, she finished last season very strongly, and it is clear how hard the three-time French Open champion works in the off-season. Glory for the Pole in Melbourne is certainly possible.

Swiatek's level at just 22 years old is incredible, and the record she has extended helps us understand how she got to such a high level.
