Iga Swiatek really didn't hold back when celebrating her 2024 Indian Wells Open triumph, and she discussed it afterward.
The Polish player already his 19 trophies in her cabinet, and she's making the collection larger almost every week. With so many trophies and victorious feelings, the things are not always same for Swiatek.
Sometimes, she wins and has a business face on, showing that she's a professional tennis player whose job is to win tennis matches and tournaments.
On the other hand, she sometimes celebrates her triumphs heavily, showing how much the victories mean to her despite being the most dominant player on the WTA Tour for two years now.
After her win over Maria Sakkari in Indian Wells, fans got to see one of the more animated celebrations, as the world no. 1 was clearly happy about the triumph, and after the match, she was asked about it during her press conference.
"Well, I don't know. I feel like I'm usually excited when I win tournaments. Sometimes, okay, there's maybe a little bit more of the relief than just pure happiness."
Swiatek admitted that sometimes she releases more emotions, while sometimes she holds back, but it's not something she would do on purpose, and she only acts as she feels at the given moment.
This victory comes after she wasn't able to add another Grand Slam title at the Australian Open, and proving everyone that she's still the best player in the world was certainly important for Swiatek, and that's why she was also relieved after the win.
"But right now I just feel I've done really good work. Maybe because of that, I just know that it hasn't been easy after Australia, and I've been working hard to play well and to handle everything mentally well. So I'm just proud of myself maybe because of that."
