'Seems Like Anybody Can Win Grand Slam Now': Brady Motivated For Comeback

| by Balasz Virag

Jennifer Brady made her long-awaited comeback to the WTA Tour recently, and while she didn't last long in the Granby draw, the American is excited about the future.

Brady, of course, is a very good tennis player. One that worked her way seemingly to the top of the game only to fail in eluding what so many seemingly do without any effort. We've all heard that ever-boring injuries are part of sports, and while it might be true, it doesn't make it any less brutal.

The brutality of life was the focal point of many stories, both written and captured on film, yet it always catches us by surprise. Jennifer Brady was at the top of her game when it happened, and it caught her by surprise.

Most tennis players experience an injury or two, yet somehow Novak Djokovic hasn't had too many serious ones, while Thanasi Kokkinakis had. Is it luck, or is it destiny? Tough to say. Neither is more likely than the other, and both concepts are more nonsense than fact, but what is fact is that Brady is back.

The American played at the Granby event recently, winning her first match back. It was a long march towards that elusive feeling of winning a tennis match again, perhaps as hard as climbing Mount Everest, but it was worth it. In the words of Brady, it was unbelievable, as she revealed to The New York Times.

It was unbelievable, just being out there. just engaging and just having a crowd there, and people enjoying good tennis. I definitely missed this. I didn’t think I would be as comfortable as I was. I’m happy I was able to show people that I’m still here.

The brutal nature of life itself might be lurking around the corner, but Brady will be hopeful that it finds a new victim. The return was brief, a mere two matches. The second was a loss, but it was never going to be an easy comeback for the American.

She detailed what she hopes of it, but it will take time. Even so, the grateful feeling of simply being back sliding left and right is good enough for now. Won't be forever, as Brady aims to win Grand Slams. It's something she narrowly missed out on in 2021 and she thinks it's there for the taking.

The women’s game right now, it seems like anybody can win a Grand Slam tournament. It seems like there’s a lot of opportunity.
