Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova made a surprising appearance at the 2022 World Tennis League exhibition event in Dubai.

The Russian teamed up with Dominic Thiem for mixed doubles against Grigor Dimitrov and Paula Badosa. This marks Pavlyuchenkova's return to the court after announcing that she would not be competing in any more tennis events for the rest of 2022 due to an injury.

Pavlyuchenkova's return to the court came after Anett Kontaveit had to withdraw from The Hawks team due to injury. Pavlyuchenkova stepped in as a replacement, teaming up with Thiem to take on Dimitrov and Badosa in a highly anticipated match.

Fans were excited to see Pavlyuchenkova back on the court, as she is known for her powerful and aggressive playstyle. Despite not having competed in several months, Pavlyuchenkova showed no rust as she will be the player that her team will rely on in mixed doubles since she is the Olympic champion in mixed doubles with Andrey Rublev.

It was a welcome return for Pavlyuchenkova, who will no doubt be eager to get back to her best form in the coming months. It remains to be seen if Pavlyuchenkova will continue to compete in future events, but her appearance at the World Tennis League in Dubai was an unexpected one.
