Coco Gauff was slated to make her top 10 debut this Monday but Russian Daria Kasatkina spoilt those plans by winning the Silicon Valley Classic and returning to the top 10 herself.
Kasatkina was ranked inside the top 10 in 2019 and she's returned here after a superb week of tennis in San Jose. The Russian won three 3-set matches including the final one in San Jose to lift the trophy and secures some very valuable points. It allowed her to jump back into the top 10 denying Coco Gauff that as the American remained at 11.
Gauff was slated to make her top 10 debut but this was the only scenario that prevented that. It will most likely happen next week but it's still a bit disappointing for her considering how well she played in San Jose. There have been some changes in the top 10 as well. Paula Badosa skipped over Maria Sakkari for number 3 as Swiatek holds number one.
Shelby Rogers played in the San Jose final and she's up 15 spots to number 30. Samsonova won Washington and she's up 18 spots to 42. A couple of other players made moves with several scoring a new career high as well.
They are Kasatkina at 9, Fernandez at 13, Haddad Maia at 24, Rogers at 30, Kalinskaya at 69, Wang at 76, Udvardy at 80, Noskova at 90 and Tomova at 99. Check out the full one on our dedicated rankings page.
