Jabeur Admits To 'Rushing Her Comeback' To Compete At Roland Garros After Exit

Ons Jabeur Roland Garros experience finished in the quarter-final against Beatriz Haddad Maia but she's to be healthy.

Jabeur has had a somewhat shaky season dealing with a couple of injuries that came at a very bad time. She was playing amazing tennis at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix a month ago beating Haddad Maia among others at that event. The injury didn't allow her to play at the Madrid Open where she was the defending champion with her Rome experience kind of lacklustre as well.

That's not ideal preparation leading up to Roland Garros but she's glad to have played it and stayed healthy. Obviously, the loss was a disappointing one as she could have won the match. The return was a bit rushed and that's always a dangerous thing to do risking reinjury.

Yeah, thank God, there is nothing hurting. I didn't have much time to prepare for especially clay season because it's more physical than any other surface. I'm feeling okay. I think I rushed my way back on tour, but that's because I wanted to be ready for the French Open. You know, like all the training and the physical training, maybe I didn't have enough time to prepare for that, but I did my maximum. I did what I could do in a short time period.

Despite the upsetting loss, Jabeur remained positive after the match praising what Haddad Maia has been doing. There are some similarities between the players as they both come from countries that haven't had much success in tennis lately with a slow rise to the top.

But, yeah, she probably played longer than me, but she's  beast, and I wish her all the best. I mean, honestly, what she's doing for -- I feel like my story and her story are a little bit similar. I'm very happy for her and for Brazil, and hopefully she can do much more for her country. But, yeah, for me now I'm going to try to rest a little bit and be ready, but I'm good for now.

The story now shifts to grass for Jabeur. It's a surface where she probably plays even better than on clay with Wimbledon being a clear goal. She played in the final last year and was a set up on her opponent ultimately losing in three sets.
