At the 2022 Roland Garros, the 20-year-old Pole will face a difficult struggle, as everyone expects her to win the title at the season's second Grand Slam.
Iga Swiatek, the world number one in the WTA Rankings, is on a 28-match winning streak and has won five tournaments in a row. She will compete in the 2022 Roland Garros with the goal of winning her sixth tournament in a row and breaking Serena Williams' match-winning run of 34 matches.
The Polish superstar will kick-off her journey in Paris against qualifier Lesia Tsurenko from Ukraine. In the second round, she could face another Ukrainian, Dayana Yastremska or Alison Riske. If she passes also this test, she could face Liudmila Samsonova who is the player that was closest to beating her on her incredible winning streak.
Swiatek will probably face one of the former Roland Garros champions in the fourth round as both Simona Halep and Jelena Ostapenko are in her part of the draw. In the quarterfinals, her opponent could be Jessica Pegula or Karolina Pliskova, who she defeated in Rome last year 6-0, 6-0.
As it usually is, from semifinals there are no easy opponents as she would first meet Paula Badosa, Aryna Sabalenka or Danielle Collins. In the final, anyone could be Swiatek's opponent but the hottest candidates are Ons Jabeur, Naomi Osaka, Maria Sakkari, Emma Raducanu and last year's champion, Barbora Krejcikova.
