Caroline Wozniacki made a surprise comeback earlier this year, and she'll be back in 2024, starting at the ASB Classic in Auckland.
Wozniacki returned during the US Open stretch, winning her first match back, and continued to produce some solid tennis in the coming weeks. Her US Open campaign was rather impressive as she pushed eventual champion Coco Gauff to a 3rd set, holding an early break over the American as well.
Some assumed that she would continue to play in the coming months, but she actually finished her season early to rest up and better prepare for the upcoming year. The goal of her return was to see whether she could still compete, and she certainly could.
We'll see how next year ends, but it will start relatively early at the ASB Classic in Auckland, which will be her first WTA event of 2024. Wozniacki's commitment to play at the event was announced with a press release by the event. The announcement was accompanied by a statement from Wozniacki, who is excited about the chance to play at the event once.
It is going to be my children’s first time there. It’s amazing that I can come back and prepare as well as I can for the Australian Open. I love the fans in Auckland. It is always such a great event. I have always had an amazing time there.
Auckland has been a favourite for many players to prepare for the Australian Open, and Wozniacki thinks the same. She will also bring her family with her for some quality family time in New Zealand hoping for a good run in Melbourne.
I thought it was going to be the best place for my preparation and the best place for my family to come and start the new season.
