The 25-years-old world no. 20, Daria Kasatkina is enjoying probably the best weeks of her career as she will play the semifinals of the 2022 Roland Garros.

Daria Kasatkina played the quarterfinals at the Grand Slam already three times. She reached the quarterfinals of Roland Garros and Wimbledon in 2018 and climbed to no. 10 in the WTA Rankings shortly after. However, in 2022 she reached the semifinals for the first time after she defeated Veronika Kudermetova in the quarterfinals of the second Grand Slam of the season.

After reaching the semifinals of the 2022 Italian Open, the 25-years-old Russian took the great form also to the French capital where she's yet to lose a set. Previously, she defeated Rebecca Sramkova, Fernanda Contreras Gomez, Shelby Rogers and Camila Giorgi before facing compatriot Veronika Kudermetova.

It was Kudermetova who earned the first break as she led 3-1 in the first set. However, her opponent showed better nerves and got two breaks in the set to win it 6-4 in 46 minutes. In the second set, Kasatkina had a total of 13 breakpoints as she led already 4-2 and was serving for the match at 5-4 but struggled a bit to finish it off. The quality of the match improved in the second set as both players hit more winners than unforced errors and produced quite solid quarterfinal match in Paris.

Eventually, she prevailed in the tie-break and won the match 6-4, 7-6 to reach her maiden semifinal at the Grand Slam. She will await the winner of the match between Iga Swiatek and Jessica Pegula and on Monday, she will move to at least 12th place in the WTA Rankings. If she would win the tournament, she could climb to her career-high 7th place and enter the Top 10 for the second time in her career.
