Danielle Collins is in another WTA final, hoping to win her second trophy this year, but it will be tricky against Daria Kasatkina.
The Russian played really well against Jessica Pegula, eliminating the American from the 2024 Charleston Open and making it into the final match, where she'll take on the hottest player on the WTA Tour at the moment.
Kasatkina stepped up and delivered a great performance to beat Pegula in a very close and competitive match. Can she do it one more time and win in Charleston? It will be a difficult task.
Collins has been unbeaten for three weeks now and will hope to win trophies back-to-back with a really decent chance to really do so.
They have played three times so far, with Collins winning one of the matches. The most recent meeeting happened a while ago in San Jose in 2021, which the American ended up winning by beating Kasatkina in the final. It was a pretty close match, and I could honestly see another close one happening.
The American has a couple of things going for her, namely the serve, which makes it really hard to break. Kasatkina is a fighter, though; she won't let her opponent get off easily. Collins will have to find something new if she hopes to keep this match as clean as the previous ones.
Danielle Collins | Daria Kasatkina | |

Overall, I do have to side with the American because she's at home, she's playing the best tennis of her career, and she doesn't seem to feel any kind of pressure.
It's just a great spot for her, and I'm not sure Kasatkina has what it takes to overcome all of that. I could see her make things interesting, but in the end, I'll take Collins to win.
Prediction: Danielle Collins to win in three sets.
