It is unclear whether Jannik Sinner and Anna Kalinskaya are still dating after Kalinskaya's most recent comments.
Sinner and Kalinskaya enjoyed the best years of their respective careers this season. Their becoming a couple seemed like another positive moment for both of them after excelling on-court during 2024.
Sinner's breakthrough season saw him win maiden Grand Slam titles at the Australian Open and US Open, claim a first WTA Finals title on home soil in Turin, and help Italy secure back-to-back Davis Cup titles.
Those achievements saw him finish the year at No. 1. He became the fastest player to guarantee the year-end No. 1 ranking since Novak Djokovic's dominant 2015 season, when the Serbian won three Grand Slams and the ATP Finals.
Despite his success on-court, Sinner has had to manage anxiety off it. He twice tested positive for the banned substance clostebol at the Indian Wells Open. That came as a shock to him, and he experienced a moment of complete darkness afterward.
His case is still ongoing after the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) appealed it to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. The International Tennis Integrity Agency had previously cleared him of wrongdoing, but WADA feels he bears some fault for the accidental contamination from his physiotherapist.
Although Kalinskaya did not reach the same heights as Sinner in 2024, she still enjoyed a breakthrough year. The 26-year-old came close to winning a WTA 1000 title at the Dubai Championships but lost a thrilling battle to Jasmine Paolini.
Kalinskaya came even closer to a maiden WTA title at the Berlin Open. She held five match points to beat Jessica Pegula before the American staged a scarcely believable fightback to reign supreme in Germany.
Sinner and Kalinskaya made their relationship public in May. Both are naturally quiet individuals who do not seek the spotlight, meaning they have not posted often about their relationship on social media, contrasting with Stefanos Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa.
The Italian spoke earlier this season about their relationship and how they always try to support each other. An example was Kalinskaya being inside the stadium for Sinner's US Open final against Taylor Fritz.
However, neither player has spoken about the relationship for a while, and Kalinskaya's request before an interview with the magazine Harper's Bazaar could indicate there is trouble in their relationship or that it might have ended.
During the article containing the interview Kalinskaya did with the magazine, the publication mentioned that the Dubai Championships runner-up made it clear before starting that her relationship with Sinner was not to be asked about.
"In the middle of 2024, she began dating year-end world No. 1 Jannik Sinner. At time of writing, the status of that relationship was unclear. Crystal clear, on the other hand, was the pre-interview instruction to BAZAAR not to raise the topic."
It is impossible for fans to know whether Sinner and Kalinskaya have broken up until one of them confirms it, but the signs do not seem positive by the WTA player not wanting to discuss Sinner.
