Roger Federer uploaded a brief video of himself practicing tennis on social media, indicating that his comeback is drawing closer.

It's been quite some time since tennis fans got to see the 20-time Grand Slam champion from Switzerland on the tennis court, as his last appearance on the Tour-level tournament was when he lost to Poland's Hubert Hurkacz in the 2021 Wimbledon quarterfinal.

Since then, Federer has been away from the courts, with many hoping for one last appearance at the All England Club. However, that doesn't seem very likely at the moment, as after skipping the tournament in 2022, he's set to appear at only two tournament, one of which is an exhibition.

Now, the Swiss Maestro has released footage of his practicing on the tennis court to tease his fans ahead of the anticipated comeback. Naturally, the video was recorded on a hard court, with the location being unknown.

Although there was nothing spectacular in the footage, Federer could be seen moving easily on the court, which is crucial for playing tennis. He demonstrated no reluctance to place his entire weight on the surgically repaired knee, demonstrating his confidence that it has fully recovered.

Although the exact date of the video's shooting is unknown, given his schedule for recuperation, it was probably not too long ago. Federer will compete in two events this year.

The Laver Cup in London will be the first tournament that he'll play, followed by the Swiss Indoors in Basel in October. After that, a very short 2022 season will probably come to an end for Federer, and fans will hope that it won't be his last.

Yet, at 41 years of age, it can be at any time that Federer announces his retirement from the professional tennis, but fans are probably hoping for "one more year."
