Despite the huge rivalry on the court, during the trophy ceremony, Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev had a lot of fun as they sprayed champagne on each other's head.

Carlos Alcaraz has won back-to-back titles in his home country, defeating Alexander Zverev in the final of the 2022 Madrid Open to claim his second ATP Masters 1000 title of the season. New world number 6 required three sets to beat Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals and Novak Djokovic in the semifinals, and he fought on the court for about six hours altogether in these two matchups. The young Spaniard had a completely different story in the final of the 2022 Madrid Open versus Alexander Zverev.

Although the win might have looked easy, it wasn't just about what was happening on the court, as the German couldn't properly recover and after the tournament, he went on to say:

“I have to say is that the ATP’s job was an absolute disgrace this week. Two days ago I went to bed at 4:00, 4:30 a.m. Yesterday I went to bed at 5:20 a.m. If any normal person goes to bed one night at 4:00 a.m., the next night at 5:00 a.m., it will be a tough time just to be awake for them. And for me to play a final against Carlos Alcaraz, who to me is the best player in the world right now, in a Masters 1000 event, the next day, it is difficult.”

However, despite the issues with scheduling of the tournament, Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev fully enjoyed the trophy presentation and celebration in front of the crowd in the Spanish capital as they even sprayed each other with champagne.
