The once-popular Hopman Cup is no more but we have a new competition called the United Cup and Nick Kyrgios is ready for it.
The Australian is back home in Canberra slowly preparing himself for next year and it will start with the United Cup - a competition where mixed teams of ATP and WTA players will play each other in a team competition under the flags of their respective countries.
“I think it’s a great initiative", started off Kyrgios when asked about the competition adding: “I think those are important events to have, especially for the crowd, to see how the top female and top male — whoever enters — can play for their country."
Kyrgios loved playing in the Hopman Cup and lead Australia to a victory in 2016 and he'd like to the same thing once more:
"I have some great memories. I obviously won Hopman Cup one year and it was probably one of the cooler memories of my career. So I think it's going to be a good event."
"I just love being there for my teammates. I love that team
environment. When you win together and you lose
together, I think that's easier than being alone.
It's going to be really exciting,” he said of the United Cup. “If I
play it, which I probably will, I think it's going to be cool" - concluded Kyrgios.
