Carlos Alcaraz and Frances Tiafoe will face each other in the third round of the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, and it promises to be a great battle.
The Spaniard has a really good relationship with Tiafoe off the courts. They engaged in some friendly banter after playing an iconic match at the 2022 US Open. That was a semi-final and a huge battle that Alcaraz ultimately won, but it left the American itching for revenge.
He'll have a chance to get it at Wimbledon, where he'll also see his dream of playing on the Centre Court come true. The two are a fascinating matchup, especially as both seem quite eager to battle it out.
After his match, Tiafoe said he was 'coming for Alcaraz,' to which Alcaraz responded that he was 'coming for him.' After his second-round win, the World No. 3 spoke to the media, and when asked about Tiafoe, he called him a great person who is fun to be around.
Even so, despite having a good off-court relationship, they won't be friends when they're on the court, battling it out for a fourth-round spot at SW19.
"I have a really good relationship with a lot of players. But once you step on the court, there are no friends. You have to be on your own. Focus on yourself. And you try to beat them. That’s how tennis works. Frances is a great player. Great person as well. He always smiles."
"He always seems like he’s enjoying his time on and off the court. It’s pretty impressive. Trying to put a show every time he steps on court. It’s gonna be a fun match to play and to watch. I’ll try to use my good weapons in the match and try to beat him."
Their match will be played on Friday, and it is very likely that it will be one of the later matches on the Centre Court.
