Jannik Sinner has completed a full month as the ATP World No. 1 and will leave Wimbledon in that position regardless of his result for the rest of the tournament.
Sinner has powered into the quarterfinal at the All England Club for the third year in a row with a straight-sets win over Ben Shelton. He will face fifth seed Daniil Medvedev in the quarterfinal, a rematch of their Australian Open final in January, which the Italian won in five sets.
The 22-year-old can still attain five-digit ranking points by the end of the fortnight. So far, Sinner has accumulated 9570 points in the live rankings and can stretch his tally to 9970 with victory over Medvedev on Tuesday.
The top four could change when the rankings will be officially updated at the end of the tournament. Alexander Zverev can potentially rise as high as World No. 2. Carlos Alcaraz, meanwhile, might drop as low as fourth.
On the women's side, Iga Swiatek is also comfortably sitting at the top of the WTA rankings. The Pole suffered a shock elimination from this year's Championships. She was beaten by an inspired Yulia Putintseva in the third round.
Swiatek is still the only player on either Tour with over 11,000 ranking points, but she will lose 300 points from her tally. Coco Gauff, who also lost before the quarterfinal to fellow American Emma Navarro, has bridged the gap to the top, although she failed to take advantage of Swiatek's rare slip.
The 20-year-old has cemented her spot in the top two following Aryna Sabalenka's withdrawal. The Belarusian could drop to fourth should Elena Rybakina win her second Wimbledon.
Jelena Ostapenko is pushing for a Top 10 return (up to 11th in the live rankings). Emma Navarro and Anna Kalinskaya will have new career highs at the end of the tournament.
