The third installment of Red Bull Bassline is set to take place in Madrid, as confirmed to Tennis-Infinity.com.
Set to take place alongside the 2023 Madrid Open, which is an ATP 1000 event, on April 25, this one-night, knock-out tie-break tournament will descend upon Caja Magica's iconic Arantxa Sánchez Vicario Stadium for an unforgettable experience.
Red Bull Bassline's unique best-of-three format ensures rapid-fire matches, with each round lasting a mere 10 to 25 minutes. Top players such as Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev, Matteo Berrettini, Sebastian Korda, Feliciano Lopez, and Martin Landaluce will compete in an eight-player field, offering thrilling, intense battles where every point is pivotal.
With no umpire present, the players themselves will be responsible for calls and disputes, providing an unfiltered view of tennis at its finest. The electrifying atmosphere of Red Bull Bassline is further amplified by a live DJ, who keeps the energy high with music playing between points and even during exhilarating rallies.
This revolutionary approach to tennis pairs perfectly with cutting-edge technology that allows fans to engage with their favorite players like never before. Through Red Bull TV, viewers can access insights such as player heart rate monitors displayed on LED walls behind the baseline, giving an unprecedented look into the stress levels of athletes during crucial moments.
The player headlining the event is the recent Australian Open finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas, who spoke about it in superlatives:
"In today's world, everything is moving really fast, there are a lot of distractions and everything tends to be faster, quicker. The idea for Bassline stemmed from there, making tennis much more exciting, with more energy and more intensity put into every single point."
"Everyone‘s going at it 100 percent, each one displaying their best game. But we also want everyone to have a huge smile on their face; we want players to have fun while they’re out there doing what they do best."
"Basically, we have tennis unfiltered – everyone can express themselves, everyone can get angry and fully be themselves on the court, I like to see a show on court more – music being played and the fans much more involved in the game than they already are. That's going to bring new life into the sport."
