No Cancellation This Time: Alcaraz & Nadal Land In Las Vegas Ahead Of Netflix Slam

| by Zachary Wimer

The Netflix Slam between Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz is to be played on Sunday, March 3rd, and it's going to go ahead.

This exhibition match has been in the works for a very long time. It was initially scheduled to be played last year but due to Nadal's hip injury at the Australian Open it was abandoned.

The match was abandoned, but the plan was in place as it was simply moved to this year. The match will be the first tennis match to be streamed live on Netflix, which could be an interesting idea for the company in the future.

Perhaps there will come a time when we'll be able to watch tennis regularly on Netflix, something that is far from reality right now. In any case, there was some doubt that this year's match would go ahead.

Nadal injured himself in Australia once more and when he elected to withdraw from the Qatar Open some alarm bells rang. Luckily for fans, the Spaniard is healthy and will make a comeback at the exhibition.

He's alreayd there on the ground in Las Vegas as a photo with longtime Las Vegas resident Andre Agassi proves. There was another current tennis player in the picture, and it's Nadal's Netflix Slam opponent, Carlos Alcaraz.

His health was also in question as he had recently rolled his ankle in Rio de Janeiro so many wondered whether he would be ready for the match. It turns out that he is so it's going to go ahead.

It wasn't smooth, as both had injury worries prior to the event, but it's going to happen finally, with Netflix livestreaming the match from start to finish.

After playing the Netflix Slam, both are expected to move to Indian Wells, where they will compete in the first ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the year, the Indian Wells Open.
