Nick Kyrgios loud in criticizing ATP for brutal treatment of Australians

Nick Kyrgios loves to spend time with his family in Australia but because of ATP schedule, he can't do it too often.

The 2022 Wimbledon finalist travelled away from his home once more as he competed at the 2022 ATP Finals, event held in Italy. Earlier this season, Nick Kyrgios spoke about how difficult it is for Australian tennis players to keep up with the schedule as they need to spend more time away from their home as any European players.

Now, he voiced his opinions about how difficult it is for Australian players once again as he highlighted how difficult it is for him to travel away from his home country.

"I mean, well, yeah, the schedule is pretty brutal for Australians,” Kyrgios explained. “We have to fly 56 hours to every tournament. We get a couple months at home per year where everyone else gets six months. My energy levels are pretty down. I wouldn’t mind to see how we go here, but looking forward to going home."

“I still feel like the grind of tennis for Australians is widely underappreciated. Like, we’ve been on the road pretty much all year. The amount of time away from home, trying to play singles and doubles at events, all the physio, late nights, this type of stuff, massively underappreciated.”

But the Australian isn't the only player to criticize the schedule. Recently, Diego Schwartzman, who is Argentinian, also spoke about the difference for South American players compared to European, when he said:

"South Americans are in different situations compared to European players. We travel too much, and sometimes we are not coming back home for 2-3 months, while Europeans can fly home every week. It’s tough,” he said.
