World number 2, Daniil Medvedev doesn't hide his dislike of clay-courts but the Russian is doing incredibly well at the 2022 Roland Garros after coming back from an injury.

Throughout his career, clay was by far the most unsuccessful surface for Daniil Medvedev. In 2020 he didn't win a single match on this surface and in 2021 his record was 5-3. The Russian many times described his dislike for the surface but something appeared to change at the 2022 Roland Garros.

After missing the whole clay-court season this year due to a surgery, the world number 2 played only one match in Geneva which he lost to Richard Gasquet and was entering the 2022 Roland Garros draw without any expectations.

In the first two rounds, he defeated very solid clay-court players Facundo Bagnis and Laslo Djere without dropping a set and in the third round, he took another very good clay-court player, Miomir Kecmanovic who is coached by David Nalbandian and practiced with Novak Djokovic prior to the tournament.

Throughout the match, both players hit more winners than unforced errors but especially Medvedev's numbers were really impressive. The Russian hit 42 winners and only 26 unforced errors while hitting 6 aces and facing a breakpoint only twice.

He succeeded in not being broken and broke his opponent's service game 5 times what resulted in a swift 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 victory. In the fourth round, Medvedev will take on the winner of the match between home-crowd favourite Gilles SImon or experienced Marin Cilic.
