On the 9th of November 2022, Nick Kyrgios will play an exhibition event in the Arena CDMX in Mexico City called Tennis Showdown.

First, the 27-years-old Australian was set to take on Gael Monfils from France. However, he hasn't played since August and his participation was in doubt also when announcing. A few days before the event start, he announced that he won't be able to take part at the event.

Announcing his withdrawal from the event, the Frenchman said: "Hi everyone, I won't be able to play in Mexico. I was really looking forward to playing in front of you guys but I haven't fully recovered from my last injury. Nick is a very good friend of mine and I know he's gonna put on a show. I will definitely watch it from home and I really hope that I will be able to meet you all in a near future and come to Mexico again."

On the other hand, the Australian was happy to announce that he's set to participate, stating: "I really cannot wait to be in Mexico City for the Tennis Showdown this November. I hope to see all my fans there and I cannot wait to put on a show," Kyrgios said.

New opponent of the 2022 Wimbledon finalist will be a semifinalist from the same event and world no. 13, Cameron Norrie. The Brit will join probably the biggest showman on the ATP Tour as he announced his participation with a short video.

"Just wanted to let you know that I will be playing in Mexico City and I will be taking on Nick Kyrgios. Nick and I are great friends and I'm expecting a massive battle."
