"Everything is like sh*t for me" - Alcaraz shares insight into post-loss aftermath

| by Sebastian Dahlman

Carlos Alcaraz lost a very competitive match against Jannik Sinner in Miami last night and he talked about it and more in the press conference after.

It was an incredible match with a lot of spectacular moments but it didn't go the way Alcaraz wanted it to go. He showed a high degree of confidence earlier this week when he confirmed that the Sunshine double is a goal of his but ultimately he fell short against Sinner despite having a good chance to win the match.

It's disappointing but his confidence showed up once more when he declared that there will be more chances in the future.

I had [an] opportunity to get the Sunshine Double, but I think I’m going to have more years to try to get it. But all I can think about is to improve my level to beat Jannik.

So much of what he does on the court is directly tied to his confidence level and it's the same with Sinner. Both stepped onto the court fully believing in themselves and they delivered a superb spectacle that had fans on their feet more than once.

Fans are slowly noticing a great rivalry budding and it shows in the way they immerse themselves in their match.

I feel something different about the crowd when I play against Jannik. I think around the world there’s probably all the people watching this match because I think it's really beautiful to watch. It was an incredible crowd. I felt the energy, the love from the people when I was down. So for me it's unbelievable to have this kind of feeling, this kind of support. It's indescribable.

He also provided how a loss looks like in the locker room and it's about what you might expect from a serious competitor like Alcaraz. It's doom and gloom for a while but then it's back to the positives and improving.

After the match, for like 15, 25 minutes I can't talk to anyone. Complaining a lot, everything is like s%*! for me. After 20, 25 minutes, I start thinking about positive things, about the match, the season, the tournament, and talking with my team, my family. After that, [I start] to have good things on my mind. I come [to the press conference] smiling.
