Carlos Alcaraz vs Stefanos Tsitsipas: 2024 Roland Garros - Preview & Prediction

| by Zachary Wimer

Carlos Alcaraz has never lost against Stefanos Tsitsipas, and the Greek player will try to change that in the quarter-final of the 2024 Roland Garros.

Tsitispas has not played the cleanest event so far, as he has already dropped two sets, but he's been more than decent. It was quite impressive how he was able to overcome the huge momentum Matteo Arnaldi had in his most recent match.

He looked quite defeated before snatching away that second set, so he's been playing well, albeit not the best. Alcaraz had one such match himself, as Jesper De Jong gave him a lot more trouble than anybody saw coming.

The rest of the matches have been pretty good for the 21-year-old, especially the most recent one against Felix Auger-Aliassime. His fully operational forehand is a huge bonus for the Spaniard, as he's a different player when he can crush forehands.

That's a major weapon Tsitispas failed to find a solution for in their previous matches, so having that working is great news for the third seed, and less good news for the Greek player.

Head-to-head:

Tsitsipas has not had a good time against Alcaraz in the past, losing all five matches they played. Three of those matches were on clay, and the Spanish player won comfortably. They even played last year in the quarter-final in Paris, and Alcaraz won 6-2, 6-1, 7-6(5).

It's not a very good matchup for Tsitsipas, largely because the Spaniard is just too overwhelming for him.

Prediction:

Tsitsipas can make it interesting if Alcaraz produces a lackluster showing and the Greek has his service working. Still, the Spaniard looks very focused right now. He's likely to win this relatively comfortably, as he did last year.

Prediction: Carlos Alcaraz to win in four sets.
