Auger-Aliassime comes back from 2 sets down in Roland Garros opener

World number 9, Felix Auger-Aliassime won only four games in the first two sets at the 2022 Roland Garros, but managed to come back and defeat Juan Pablo Varillas.

The young Canadian is coached by Toni Nadal, who is uncle and a former coach of 13-time Roland Garros champion, Rafael Nadal. Since their pairing, Felix Auger-Aliassime's clay-court game improved and attending the second Grand Slam of the year for the third time, he finally won his first match.

It was a very bad start for Auger-Aliassime in Paris as he got broken in the very first game of the match and lost the first set quickly 6-2. In the second set, the story was very similar and after an hour and twenty minutes, he found himself down 2-6, 2-6 and just one set away from losing in the first round of the Roland Garros third time in a row.

However, in the rest of the match, his play radically improved. He didn't allow his opponent to have a single breakpoint and hit more winners than unforced errors in all three remaining sets. That led to a beautiful comeback and eventual victory for the young Canadian 2-6, 2-6, 6-1, 6-3, 6-3.
