Carlos Alcaraz will reportedly play at next week's Queen's Club Cinch Championships despite a very long and exhausting week at the 2024 Roland Garros.
Alcaraz arrived in Paris without too many matches on clay as he dealt with a right forearm injury. The Spaniard then experienced some leg issues as he had his leg taped for the final against Alexander Zverev, so many assumed that he would just take some time away from the tennis courts until Wimbledon.
The decision would make a lot of sense. He just had a crazy two weeks in Paris and is probably fatigued. There is clearly some minor fatigue going on with his body that will need time to heal, and it's not like he needs too much tennis ahead of Wimbledon.
He can just play an exhibition in Hurlingham a few days prior, like many players opt to do. After all, he won it last year without much experience, and he's back to playing great with his confidence sky-high after the triumph in Paris.
He's the defending champion in Queen's and has confirmed earlier that he will play at the ATP 500 event. He confirmed it once more in an interview back home in Spain, which is interesting to note because that event is only a week away.
He'll effectively have only a week between Paris and London, and he should at least touch the grass before playing a match in Queen's. That's a very short turnaround for Alcaraz, who is once again showing his desire to stand on a tennis court.
There are very few reasons to doubt his intentions, but given his injury history, it may not be the best decision. Still, he'll have at least a week between Queen's and Wimbledon to rest and recover ahead of the season's third major tournament.
