As the ATP Tour moves from Australia to Europe, one of the first indoor events will be played in France as the 2023 Montpellier Open will take place from February 6th to 12th.
The tournament in Montpellier is beloved among French players, who were very successful at this event in the past. Gael Monfils, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Lucas Pouille and Richard Gasquet won seven out of eight titles won between 2013 and 2020. However, the last two champions are not from France as Alexander Bublik is the defending champion.
In 2023, the Kazakh will defend his title as he will be facing a tough field of competitors. Young Dane, Holger Rune leads the entry list as he will be joined by other youngsters such as Jannik Sinner and Borna Coric.
Spaniards Roberto Bautista Augt and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina will all play in France too.
The entry list is full of players that can cause a surprise, as Maxime Cressy, Lorenzo Sonego, and Arthur Rinderknech all proved in the past, that they are capable of causing upsets.
