The 2023 Marseille Open 13 Provence promises to be an interesting event despite none of the last three champions being present on the entry list.
Andrey Rublev is the defending champion in Marseille, but the Russian elected to compete in Doha. Daniil Medvedev won in 2021 and he chose to play the same tournament as his compatriot and Stefanos Tsitsipas, who triumphed in 2019 and 2020 has decided to skip this event that is played from February 20-26.
But there will be at least one former champion in the French city. Karen Khachanov, who won in 2018, should have been one of the seeded players, but he withdrew from the event.
However, all eyes will be on the young gun from Denmark, Holger Rune. Hubert Hurkacz, Pablo Carreno Busta, and Jannik Sinner will all try to win their first title in 2023 in Marseille.
